We are a group of Professional Organizers who are passionate about helping people simplify their lives. We know from experience that employing simple organizational principles will enable you to spend less time on the mundane and focus on what is truly important.
We set up this site as a place to field your questions about organizing. Your home. Office. Kids. Spouse. Classroom. Car. Even your life. If we don’t know the answer, we generally know where to find out.
You can submit your questions through the comments portion of the blog or email us here. We’ll put our heads together and post an answer in a day or two.
So, ask away! We’re here to help!
Got any good ideas of where to store postage stamps? I have different sized sheets of stamps, in varying values, swimming amongst the clutter in my desk drawer!

I labeled one of my hanging files STAMPS. I keep all my postage stamps there. Except for the few stamps I keep in my planner in a clear plastic pouch.

I buy a lot of food and end up wasting it. I have no idea how to begin making a meal plan. My meals are always planned about a half hour after we should have finished eating that meal, so we eat late. I have food that has been sitting in my freezer for over a year, but I really don’t know how long anything has been in there.
I just found a chart at http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Focus_On_Freezing/index.asp#5 that gives me an idea of how long I should keep foods, but should I label the foods packages &/or keep a running inventory or calendar? What type of label works best in the freezer? Any tips on food inventories or calendars? I don’t know where to start?

check out http://www.myfamilymealplanner.com for a jumpstart on organizing meal planning and shopping. she gives you 4 suggestions per week so you can easily add your family favorites, and they are all easy and simple for someone just starting to cook for their family. i just started using it this month and it is very helpful. don’t love every meal, but many i can easily adjust or substitute from another source. this still makes planning and executing a daily dinner so much more feasible! good luck!

Why is this site called “ask an organizer” when there is no place to ask a question?
