Why Do I Always Lose Stuff When I Travel?

Imagine a new video you have never seen. It is filled with new images continually appearing. Contrast that with a familiar film that you have viewed over and over. Those images are predictable to you and you know what to expect.

Think about your travel activity in the same way. When you use the same accessories each time you travel, your activity will be more predictable. Here is how it works:

  • Same bags, same results. Know what will fit comfortably in an appropriate travel bag. Put your socks in the same place every time and you will always find those socks. When you know there is always a pen and note cards in your brief case, you do not need to pack it every time.
  • Label everything. Your contact information attached in or on each piece of luggage will, in case of loss, increase the possibility it will return to you. Consider adding a unique identifier such as a company logo that enables easy recognition.
  • Consolidate. A travel tote that accommodates purse, reading material, laptop, and other necessities will keep everything together. You will only have one thing to remember!
