How Do You Part With Memories of the Past?

antique-cup-saucer-04-092My friend Carrie told me about the family get together she is planning. Sisters and sisters-in-laws will be invited to celebrate Carrie’s late mother’s life. They will enjoy refreshments that will include wonderful family recipes. In an effort to keep costume jewelry, knicknacks and dishes in the family, Carrie plans to let the guests choose the items that mean the most to them from the collections mom left behind.

Some great memories will be shared that day. Instead of parting with things, I believe each guest will go home with a richer sense of their family history and culture.

This idea could be used by anyone. Family and friends can be invited to share memories and take home tangible reminders of those special times. What a great way to disperse a collection!

In what unique way have you shared memories?
