Do You Feel Hopelessly Unorganized?

There are a few things that we do when we are trying to get organized.  We buy products that promise to help us solve the challenges of our unorganized areas, and/or we buy books that promise an organized life.  Then when “it” doesn’t work we feel discouraged and hopelessly unorganized.  These things can be helpful, but there should be an asterisk by their descriptions, like this…

Organizing Product A*

*To know if this product is really what you need then you will need to clean out and declutter before purchase.  Do not purchase this item until you have done the work.  Look around to see if you have something in your home already that can give you the same result as this product.  It is better for the environment and pocket book if you can recycle or reuse an item you already have in your home.

Organizing Book*

*Every home and person is different so the solutions in this book may not work for you.  Find things you like in this book, try them and then adjust them to work with your lifestyle if needed.  If it doesn’t work…then it wasn’t the right solution for you.

Ok, so the marketers would never put these statements on their products, but you can do it for yourself.  I am a true believer that there are some great organizing products and books out there.  But, that being said, any professional organizer will tell you the first step to getting organized is always to clean out and get rid of the stuff that is weighing you down.  Nobody is hopelessly unorganized.  You just have to figure out what works best for YOU.  Call a local professional organizer if you need help.  They are trained to help you solve your organizing problems.  You can find a local professional organizer at  Good luck getting organized and remember…it is not hopeless!
