How do I shorten my time buying groceries?

Q.  How do I shorten my time buying groceries?

A.  Buying groceries is something that most of us wish we never had to do.  The reality is that is has to be done.  I have a few ideas that will make this chore more time efficient and hopefully a little less stressful.

  • Shop during your lunch hour.  Pack a cooler in the truck of your car, put the cold items in the cooler.  This will save you a lot of time because the store will not be busy (no long check-out lines).
  • Make a list (by aisle).  You will be able to only go down the aisles you need to.
  • Shop at a store that matches prices of sale items from other stores.  You will only have to go to one store for all your sale items.
  • Try to stretch out the time between store visits.  This may happen by making a pantry, somewhere is your home, or using the food you already have in your freezer or kitchen cupboards.
