How Can I Lead a More Balanced Life?

TirePeriodically the tires on my car need balancing. I let the experts at the tire center or vehicle service center take care of redistributing the weights on each tire to accomodate the wear and use that occurs over time. The result is better mileage, a more comfortable ride and increased life of the tires.

What kind of re-balancing can we give our lives so we get more done, enjoy life to the fullest, and become healthier? An honest assessment of the amount of time we spend working, with our families, taking care of our own needs, and helping others is often the place to start. Here are some questions to get you started with your Life Balance assessment:

  • Is there a difference between your work days and your weekends?
  • Do you schedule “Me Time?”
  • Do you take at least one planned vacation (or staycation) each year?
  • Have you helped someone in the past week?
  • Is there something (event, social gathering, project, etc.)  you are looking forward to in the near future?

If you answered Yes to four or more of these questions, you likely have a balanced life. Three or less Yes answers may indicate you have an opportunity to improve the balance in your life.

The good news is that you can enjoy the benefits of a more balanced life by starting to add some small things to your life. Do something nice for someone else. Express your appreciation to someone. Say a prayer. Clear some clutterPlan and take some special activity or project that you know will bring you enjoyment. Think about your next vacation. Contact a professional organizer who can help you rebalance your life.

What is your secret for keeping your life in balance?
