Get Organized for A Thanksgiving to Remember

Thanksgiving is a such a fun holiday because  it is all about the 4 F’s (family, friends, football and food).  If you are hosting Thanksgiving at your house I have a few tips for you.

1.  Clean the house this weekend, and get some help from your whole family.  I like to work as a family.  We start at the bottom( basement) and work our way up.  Typically the kids pick-up, dust and use the glass cleaner while my husband and I vacuum and clean the bathroom.  After the basement is all done, we move up to the main level and repeat.  When we finish the main level, the kids go and work on their bedrooms.  This process usually takes us about 2 hours.  You can then do a touch-up on Wednesday if needed.

2. Make a plan.  What recipes are you using and when is the earliest you can make it?  If you’re having a hard time figuring this out, go online or pick up a magazine. I Googled  “Thanksgiving meal planner”  and found tons of recipes and planners.  I am sure there is something out there that can help you.

3.  Delegate, delegate, delegate.  All the food does not need to be produced in your kitchen!!   If your Aunt offers to bring something, then say yes!  You will be doing you and her a favor.  She wants to help and you need the help!  This also goes for Thanksgiving day.  Delegate everything!  Kids are great at making place cards and setting the table.  It is a special treat for the kids to get out the good dishes and make a table look beautiful.

4.  When dinner is over, it is time to relax, enjoy some football and get out some games to play.

One thing you don’t want to do is miss this special day because you were in the kitchen and stressed!   Plan and work ahead so you can enjoy the day and be thankful for the people you love.  Your family and friends will be thankful for you.  Happy Thanksgiving!
