Magazines and Catalogs…how big is your pile?

How big is your pile of magazines and catalogs?  We are into February and some of the New Year’s Resolutions have already gone to the wayside and your piles are getting larger.  Do you still have some Christmas catalogs?  Do you have a pile of magazines that had great Christmas crafts?  The craft ideas can be put in a 3 ring notebook in a page protector.

It’s time to let go of these and feel the freedom of a magazine clutter melting away.

First, decide what you are going to do with them.  Trash, cancel some you don’t read or recycle which is my favorite.  If you decide to recycle, who and how do you recycle?  You can take your old magazines to a hospital or doctors waiting room.  Nursing homes will like them or to your favorite women’s group or craft meeting and share them with friends.  Just make sure if you are taking them to a public place to remove your name for identity theft.  On catalogues it will have an inside page that you have to remove your name on too.  If you don’t have time to take them somewhere…the recycle bin at your home is just fine.

Second, you need to call the companies that you decide to cancel with.  Most catalog companies also have web sites that you can go onto to pick out various items as the seasons pass or if you are looking for something special.

Third, think twice before you order more magazines or catalogs and see if you can find what you need on the internet.

Finally, feel the freeing feeling of the clutter being gone and the stress of the mess no longer there.  When will you go through your pile?  Do you need a professional organizer to help guide you through the process or with some other clutter?

Good luck to you in 2010!
