Vacation is Over! Let the Unpacking Begin!

Summer is drawing to a close. Are all your vacation bags unpacked? All those tips on preparing and packing for a trip didn’t include much help on how to unpack. Here are a few tricks from a frequent traveler to help you unpack in a flash:

  • Pack a lightweight laundry bag to capture dirty clothes. When filled, it will pack easily and can go straight to the laundry room when you return home.
  • Keep a separate set of toiletries for travel use. When you return home, return those items to an assigned place.
  • Pack a couple extra plastic shopping bags to isolate soiled shoes or other material you want to separate from other packed items.
  • Remember, the less you take (or buy) onb a trip, the less there is to put away when you return.
  • Follow-up on thank you notes, photo downloads and other loose ends as soon as possible when you return.
  • If you used your personal car, check your service schedule for regular maintenance. Those miles can accumulate in a hurry on a road trip.

I would like to hear how you make unpacking a breeze.

  1. I loved this article! I always put a extra folding bag that can be a carry on for extra items I bring home from a Conference.

It’s the download of pictures that you mentioned that always takes the longest for me. 🙂

  2. An extra folding bag is great to bring conference items home. How many bags still have the freebies and the great handouts in the bags long after arriving home? Photos can take a while to download, label, sort, crop, etc. The digital age is truly amazing!

  3. Asking questions are truly nice thing if you are not understanding anything completely, but this article
    offers nice understanding yet.

  4. always i used to read smaller articles or reviews which as well clear their motive,
and that is also happening with this article which I am reading here.

  5. When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment
is added I get three emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
    Thanks!

  6. This design is wicked! You certainly know how to keep a
reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved
to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really loved what you had
to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

  7. Can I simply just say what a relief to uncover someone
who actually understands what they’re discussing on the
web. You actually understand how to bring a problem
to light and make it important. A lot more people must check this
out and understand this side of your story.
I was surprised you are not more popular because you surely have the
    gift.
